Fall 2020 Updates for Faculty

Welcome back ELAC faculty!

We hope you had a chance to relax and recharge this summer, and we hope you're all getting accustomed to our new work-from-home normal.

We have some important updates and changes to library resources and services we'd like to share:

New Kanopy This link opens in a new windowProcedure

• Movies in Kanopy must now be purchased before they can be streamed.
• To request a film purchase, click on the title in Kanopy and submit a request form. A librarian will respond within 48 hours, Mon.-Fri.

Textbooks/eBooks

• Most textbook publishers DO NOT sell electronic versions of their books to libraries. Scan and upload parts of your textbook using apps like Adobe Scan or Office Lens. Don't forget to make sure your scans are ADA compliant!
• Ready to adopt an OER textbook? Check out our OER by Department Guide.
• New ebook database! ProQuest Ebook Central: 150,000+ ebooks, free 24/7 access, unlimited users.

New Library Workshop Procedure

• Review and share our online workshop options with your students. 
• Librarians will no longer email students or faculty confirmation receipts.
• New workshop confirmation: After watching a workshop, students complete an online worksheet. Their responses will be automatically emailed to them. Students can forward the automated email as proof of completion, or faculty can ask them to screenshot and upload their automated email in a Canvas assignment page.

New Research Tutorials

• Credo Information Literacy Tutorials subscription will END on December 31, 2020. If you have linked to or embedded these modules, please remove the links.
