My name is Kate Pham, and I have recently joined ELAC this semester as a Library Intern. I am looking forward to learning about the diverse student experiences at ELAC and supporting library projects and work to enrich teaching and learning. I'm very interested in outreaching and getting to know different student communities and campus partners at ELAC during my internship experience, as well as finding meaningful collaborative opportunities.
I am currently pursuing my MLIS at UCLA, and I spent my undergraduate studies at UCSD, where I often felt out of place as a first-gen college student in a research-oriented university. My personal experience navigating academia has helped me reflect on some of the barriers to student academic retention and access to higher education. In the near future, I hope to become an academic librarian to work towards addressing these issues of equity and access in higher education.
In my free time, I enjoy reading and watching true crime series, visiting national parks, playing video games, and trying new food. I am excited to meet and work with you all!
Welcome aboard, Kate!! Great learning more about your educational background and I look forward to working with you this semester :)
Hello Kate! Welcome to the ELAC Library. I'm looking forward to our interview in March.
