LACCD provides free digital subscriptions to The Atlantic, New York Times, and Chronicle of Higher Education for all current ELAC students, faculty, and staff. Create your personal digital accounts today! Each publication requires the creation of a unique account. See instructions to the right.

Sign up for Your Atlantic Subscription

Founded in 1857, The Atlantic provides a mix of investigative reporting, essays, and features on current events and societal issues through its Pulitzer-winning journalism. Your free subscription includes unlimited reading online and in the Atlantic app, narrated articles and podcasts, email newsletters, and more. Download the PDF document below to explore all subscription benefits. To activate your access, follow these simple steps:

  1. Go to TheAtlantic.com/group-login or download the Atlantic app from the App Store or Google Play Store
  2. Find Los Angeles Community College District in the drop-down menu when you sign in.
  3. Sign in with your LACCD credentials.
  4. Enjoy your unlimited access to The Atlantic!

Professors: If you’re interested in receiving resources from The Atlantic on how to use their articles in the classroom, please fill out this Google form.

Sign up for Your New York Times Subscription

  • ELAC students, faculty, and staff can sign up for a free New York Times online subscription courtesy of the ELAC Library. Your subscription includes:
    • All New York Times website (nytimes.com) content
    • New York Times Book Review and Magazine 
    • New York Times in Higher Education site 
    • New York Times Cooking and Games sections
    • The Athletic
    • Wirecutter (similar to Consumer Reviews)
    • Access is available on and off campus and from the NYT's app.

Sign up for Your Chronicle of Higher Education Subscription

On campus: Go to Chronicle.com for access. Click on Sign In and then Sign-up to create your account. You may be prompted to sign in with your LACCD portal username and password.

Off campus: Go to Chronicle.com and sign in to your account if you already have one. If you do not have an account, follow these steps:

  • Go to Chronicle.com. Click on the “Sign In” link at top, right-hand side of the page. Select the “Sign Up” tab.
  • Create a free account using your institutional email address. You also have the option to sign up for The Chronicle’s free email newsletters during the registration process.
  • Activate your account by confirming your email address. Look for an email from circulation@app.chronicle.com with the subject line “The Chronicle: Confirm your email address.”
