ELAC AAPI Heritage Month Events

Celebrating Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month in May 2023

East Los Angeles College (ELAC) is proud to celebrate and commemorate the many contributions Asian American and Pacific Islander folks have made to the U.S. – in business, education, literature, sports, music, agriculture, fashion, and groundbreaking research and discoveries.

  • Memory, Experience, Imagination: A Celebration of AAPI Heritage on May 25th, 12:00 p.m.- 1:30 p.m.
    • To honor Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month, we come together for a virtual panel discussion to talk about the panelists’ cultures, identities, experiences, and sources of pride. We look forward to facilitating a rich panel discussion featuring KCAL Channel 9 News co-anchor, Suzie Suh and Vice President of Administrative Services for East Los Angeles College, Michael Pascual. Both panelists are leading grass-roots efforts and have continuously advocated to protect and empower diverse AAPI local communities. Join us as we highlight and celebrate their educational and professional trajectories and discuss ways of understanding, expressing solidarity, and becoming institutional agents of change.
    • Register and join this virtual Town Hall on Thursday, May 25th at 12:00 PM

ELAC encourages persons with disabilities to participate in its programs and activities. For disability accommodation requests for these events, please contact the Office of Professional Development at professionaldevelopment@elac.edu.
