ELAC's Celebration of Theatre of the Sphere: The Vibrant One in May 2023

East Los Angeles College (ELAC) is proud to celebrate and commemorate the historical and contemporary experiences of Chicana(o)s in the United States. This LibGuide takes a closer look at the artistic contributions, particularly the theatrical work of Filmmaker-Playwright, Founder and Artistic Director of El Teatro Campesino (The Farmworkers's Theater), Luis Valdez. His involvement with Cesar Chavez, the UFW and the early Chicano Movement left an indelible mark that remains embodied in all his work.

The ELAC Townhall conversation celebrates the 2021 publication of "Theatre of the Sphere: The Vibrant Being" with the esteemed American Theater giant and author, Luis Valdez (El Teatro Campesino, Zoot Suit, La Bamba) in conversation with Theater Scholar, Dr. Jorge Huerta. ELAC Theater Faculty, Cristina Frías, will moderate this conversation.

Join us for a pre-event reception, from 11:00 a.m-12:00 p.m in the S2 Quad. We will have food, drinks, and music.

Register and join the Town Hall on Thursday, May 4th at 12:00PM-1:30PM in the S2 Recital Hall

ELAC encourages persons with disabilities to participate in its programs and activities. For disability accommodation requests for these events, please contact the Office of Professional Development at professionaldevelopment@elac.edu.
