Study Rooms, Tables, and Individual Study Pods Policies

The Helen Miller Bailey Library

The Helen Miller Bailey Library on the East Campus offers 23 group study rooms on the first and second floors. On the first floor, there are 5 quiet study tables in Room 129 and 10 individual study pods. Reservations are required, with a maximum booking time of 3 hours per day.

Study Room, Quiet Study Table, and Pod Policies and Procedures

  1. Library group study rooms can be reserved online, up to 1 week in advance.
  2. A single person can book a study room, study table, or a pod for up to a maximum of 3 hours per day.
    Note: Intentionally skipping a 30-minute block to extend your reservation time is prohibited.
  3. Study rooms can only be reserved by currently enrolled ELAC students. Booking requires your ELAC email (username@student.laccd.edu).
  4. To check-in or cancel a reservation, use the link in your confirmation email.
  5. Arriving more than 15 minutes late is considered a "no-show" and may result in your spot being released to others.
  6. Students studying alone in a 4-person or 8-person room may be asked to leave if a group needs the space, even if they have a reservation. Alternatively, they may be asked to share the room with another group.
  7. Rooms are for academic purposes only. Recreational activities such as gaming, social events, club meetings, or commercial uses are not permitted.
  8. If no prior reservation exists, rooms are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
  9. Study Room Capacities:
    • 2-person room: 1 person minimum; 2 person maximum
    • 4-person room: 3 person minimum; 4 person maximum
    • 8-person room: 5 person minimum; 8 person maximum

NOTE: The library study rooms, Room 129, and pods close 15 minutes before library closing time.

Television Display Use Policy

Television Display Use Policy

  • Use of library television display is intended for library activities such as research, collaborative studying, group discussions, and presentations.
  • Watching sports, movies, YouTube, etc., and playing video games for recreation is not allowed.
  • Rooms are not soundproof; conversations, discussions, and noise should be kept at acceptable levels.
  • Students must comply with LACCD’s Use of District and College Computing Facilities (B-27) .
  • Tampering with library equipment is forbidden and may result in lost privileges.
  • Users who fail to adhere to the usage policy after being notified by a library staff member will be reported to campus security.

Terms and Conditions

  1. No food or drink (except bottled water) is allowed.
  2. Do not leave belongings unattended. The Library is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged personal items.
  3. Keep voices low.
  4. Return chairs to their original locations after use.
  5. Lights must remain on at all times.
  6. The person reserving the room is responsible for ensuring their group follows all policies.
  7. Library staff reserve the right to remove students and revoke study room privileges for any violation of policies or terms.
